OK. This needs to be said. I have been checking peoples status on Facebook today and they are all about the coming election.
No one cares who you are voting for! I will say it again in case you missed it. NO ONE CARES WHO YOU ARE VOTING FOR!
Every human being has an opinion about something. It seems to be Americans who want to let everyone else on the planet know what their opinions are. Maybe that is why the rest of the world hates us.
Look at all the money they are spending on this election. Here is my opinion. I think the candidates should take the same amount of money they raise for their campaign and donate it to charity. Maybe the world would be a better place and I wouldn’t have to watch as many political commercials on TV.
I hate election years. Can’t wait until this one is over. Then it’s peace and quiet for another three years then the stupidity begins again.
Just remember, everyone is voting for someone and no one cares who you are voting for except yourself.
Flame away, losers.
Yesterday, I decided to try again with getting my Ibanez and Dean from Hell set up and intonated. I took them to Mama’s Boy Music. He told me he charges $30 per guitar or $25 if you have your own strings which I did. Better than $65 that Guitar Center charges.
Today, I got the phone call that they were done. I went in and talked to the tech and asked him if they were even close. He said “no”. He told me the Dean was tricky and he could see why they would have given up. Wow, there is today’s lesson: never get your guitars set up at Guitar Center! Their techs are incompetent. Maybe I should try to get my money back.
I took both guitars home and played them thoroughly. They sound awesome and I didn’t want to put them down! Thanks Mama’s Boy Music!
Finally, I can use my Satriani for the band.
This weekend we took the kids to Vermont to visit friends of ours. They are far north, near the Canadian border.
It was an awesome time and we got to see friends we hadn’t seen in many years.
We took the tram up to Jay Peak and got a nice view of everything around for miles. Also, we took two trips to Lake Wiloughby. The water was cold but the kids and I had loads of fun splashing around. I asked them what they liked better, the beach or the lake. They prefer the lake because you don’t have to wash the salt off afterwards. Smart kids.
The five hour car ride went pretty well considering we borrowed a friends portable DVD player. I don’t think we would have made it if it hadn’t been for that gadget.
Until next time…
Today is it…Amy and I are celebrating eight years of marriage.
Instead of an anniversary card I got a Congratulations card which congratulated me on staying married for eight years. I’ll take it! Just kidding. I love my wife and I did something today that I haven’t done in a long, long time. I got her flowers. It was the least I could do considering I am on travel until tomorrow.
I love you Amy. Thanks for eight wonderful years.
Also, I got all my work done so there is really nothing important to do in the morning except get to the airport on time. WOO HOO!
Today seemed like it would be a good day, especially after my travel woes yesterday. Was I wrong. The subsystem I am responsible for crapped out and I spent most of the day trying to get it fixed instead of doing the work I was supposed to do. Oh, well at least I didn’t let it bother me as I have all day tomorrow to catch up.
After work, I decided to see the new Batman movie. It was awesome. If you haven’t seen it yet, what are you waiting for?! Put down that mouse and GO GO GO!
Tonight, I traveled to Manassas, VA for work. I left on a Sunday night as I usually do except this time something was different. Apparently, my children like to play with the suitcases and put a harmonica in it which I did not discover while I was packing. The woman at airport security saw it on the screen and told me she needed to search my bag. I said “What’s wrong with it?” No response. Then the person running the conveyor shot all of the bins out of the end of the X-ray machine so fast that some of them spilled into other bins. I shouted at him and asked him “what the hell was wrong with him.” No response. I said “Boy people sure are in a good mood today.” Well the security woman found the harmonica and then sent me on my way. WTF? I am interested in knowing if anyone else has had a similar experience with airport security at T. F. Green Airport in Providence, RI? Am I crazy or are the security people there really assholes who like to yell at everyone and treat them like shit? I mean, seriously, if you hate your job then get another one.
Next, I make it to my plane. This young kid in his 20’s sits next to me and proceeds to chug a Red Bull. I can’t make this stuff up! He spent the whole hour long plane ride twitching try to get comfortable. Apparently, he didn’t realize Red Bull has caffeine in it.
Next, the airport shuttle where I get to stand next to, you guessed it, twitchy boy again. I think God is pointing and laughing at me at this point. Still this kid couldn’t stand still. And people wonder why I say things like “everytime I meet someone new I want to drill a hole in their head and pour the stupid out.”
Things turned around as I got my rental car. Dollar has always treated my right. I got a convertible. After that experience I needed something good to happen. And then it was off to my hotel.
My wife and I have joked in the past that we are magnets for dysfunctional people. I am starting to believe it.
Until next time…
Unfortunately, baby Amy was unable to recover from her open-heart surgery yesterday and went to be with the Lord this morning. It’s sad to see such a young child (3 weeks old) go through so much. What helped me today was to following verse from Phil Wickham’s song ‘Beautiful’:
When we arrive at eternity’s shore
Where death is just a memory and tears are no more
We’ll enter in as the wedding bells ring
Your bride will come together and we’ll sing
You’re beautiful
I just picture Amy meeting her Savior and him welcoming her home, where she is at peace and not having to fight for her life anymore.
Please pray for her family as they have many tough days ahead of them.
Baby Amy is scheduled for major surgery this morning at UCLA Medical Center. The doctors are giving her a 50/50 chance. Please pray that everything goes well. Thank you.
Last night was the second Ignite service at Lifepath.
Practice was cool but I was tired and not feeling it. Everything turned out well for the service aside from the sound problems at sound check. We received positive feedback from everyone so that is a good thing. Also, I got to miss a family cookout which was OK by me. Amy and the girls showed up so that was an unexpected surprise. Maya and Olivia were in the front row waiving their flags. I could tell Maya was exhausted because when I sat with her she wouldn’t sit still.
